Since 2022, ProBoreal Oy has been the Finnish distributor for the German-Austrian company Frank-PTI GmbH, after serving as its sales representative for two years prior. We have also represented the Swedish company Lagge AB as the Finnish distributor of its Viscomat instruments since the beginning of the decade.
Interest has been high from the start, and we have delivered a wide range of laboratory instruments, consumables, and spare parts.
It has been gratifying to hear that our customers value having new, high-quality alternatives available on the Finnish laboratory equipment market. Local service and product support from Jyväskylä — in Finnish — has also been well received.
We are aware, however, that there is still much to learn to ensure the highest quality in service and maintenance. The product range is broad and full of technical details to master, and we continue investing in the specialized tools needed for maintenance and calibration. We work continuously and diligently — learning ourselves and helping our customers get the most out of the advanced features of the laboratory instruments we represent.
As part of this product management effort, we are translating the manufacturer’s manuals into Finnish. Rather than relying on machine translation, we have chosen to do this the traditional way — by people and engineers. Although time-consuming, it is the only way to produce clear, accurate instructions and avoid the factual errors and misleading phrasing common in automated translations.
Frank GmbH began manufacturing laboratory instruments in Mannheim, southern Germany, in 1919, and Paper Testing Instruments GmbH was founded in Vorchdorf, Austria, in 1995. The two companies joined forces in 2008 to form Frank-PTI, which has since delivered its equipment worldwide, with particularly strong presence in Central Europe.
Many of their older instruments can still be found in Finnish paper, board, and pulp mills — often decades old yet still reliable everyday tools for local laboratory technicians.
Frank-PTI and Viscomat are therefore not newcomers to Finland, but rather returning brands to Finnish laboratories. ProBoreal is proud to continue the strong traditions of these trusted names.
