 Universal Tester is a general-purpose laboratory machine that, with additional accessories, can be adapted for many types of testing. In simple terms, it is a vertical tensile-strength testing device that can also measure the opposite process—compression—and, with add-on modules, various other compression or pressing tests such crushing tests, bursting (as shown in the picture left), or bending (picture middle). With a turning device, a tensile test can be converted to occur horizontally, for example to perform a friction test (picture right), again in accordance with the relevant standard. Wet tensile strength is carried out using the Finch test water dispenser and its standard conditions.

For determining internal bond strength, Frank-PTI’s solution is the Internal Bond Tester (IBT) along with the IBT sample preparation station, which produces the sample assemblies. The measuring device offers three pendulums of different weights, enabling it to measure products with very different strength levels. Both the preparation of the sample assemblies and their measurement are performed quickly with the help of automated functions.

Frank-PTI has invested heavily in the user-friendliness and ergonomics of its devices. One example of this is the popular Cobb-Unger absorption tester, whose special feature is its built-in weighting roller and sample holder. Thanks to this design, the standardized rolling can be performed by pushing the sample–blotting paper assembly in a special holder under the weighting roller, which is supported by the device frame, instead of having to lift the roller manually onto the sample. The pressing of the oil/water cylinder against the sample can also be carried out without a cumbersome spring-loaded handle. Especially when the number of samples increases, these solutions clearly reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries for laboratory technicians.
