Lagge / Viscomat II

Lagge AB is a Swedish family-owned company whose main product is the Viscomat II viscometer. The device is semi-automatic, meaning that sample preparation is still done manually as before, but the actual measurement process  —measuring the efflux (dwell) time of the sample in the capillary tube and calculating the result — is handled automatically by the instrument. This eliminates the influence of the technician’s “handwriting” on the result; in addition, once the sample has been added into the device, the technician can attend to other tasks and return later to record the completed results. So, very accurate, repeatable results with less work time need.

Viscomat II has three identical capillary tubes, allowing three simultaneous measurements. This can be used either to verify results through parallel measurements or to measure several different samples quickly. The Viscomat software automatically processes and stores the results in its database. This means more measurement capasity and analysis data automatically.

Including earlier models, Viscomats have been in use in Finland for decades. There are currently four modern Viscomat II units in operation (and one earlier model as a back up, dating from past Century and still essentially quite operational !), with excellent user satisfaction.
